Melody Gardot Tour 2022 Music has always played a critical role in Melody Gardot’s life. During her teenage years, her music career mainly consisted of playing the piano in various Philadelphia bars on the weekends. However, it all changed when Gardot met with a bicycle accident in 2003, learned to play the guitar, and started writing songs while recovering from a head injury in the hospital. Eventually, she released her first debut EP in 2005 titled Some Lessons: The Bedroom Sessions . The name of the band is a reference to an unemployment scheme called the Unemployment Benefit, Form 40 (UB40) in the United Kingdom.
